佛門禮儀: 縵衣 [paṭṭa; an upper or outer garment)]

虛雲老和尚說：「縵衣者，梵語缽吒(Skt.paṭṭa)，此雲縵。縵者漫也，謂通漫而無條相之衣。亦名禮懺衣。原為沙彌、沙彌尼之衣。但曾受三歸五戒之優婆塞、優婆夷，及曾受菩薩戒之在家二眾得披之。然唯聽作諸佛事，及禮懺之時披著。除是之外，一切時中，若居家，若出入往返，皆不得著。若詣庵寺當以囊盛之隨行。如在家宅，可以掛置淨處。」（《虛雲和尚年譜·乙未十月雲居山真如寺戒期開示》）文中明確談及：「受三歸五戒之優婆塞、優婆夷，及曾受菩薩戒之在家二眾得披之。」

自皈依佛，當願眾生，體解大道，發無上心。

Taking refuge in the Buddha myself, may then all sentient beings embody the great Way, and resolve to attain the unsurpassed mind.

自皈依法，當願眾生，深入經藏，智慧如海。

Taking refuge in the Dharma myself, may then all sentient beings enter deeply into the Canon, and attain wisdom as great as the Ocean.

自皈依僧，當願眾生，統理大眾，一切無礙。 《三稱三拜》

Taking refuge in the Sangha myself, may then all sentient beings harmonize with the great assembly, and be entirely free from hindrance.
